Welcome to Lakelands! A neo-traditional community located in Gaithersburg , Maryland in Montgomery County . Developed in 1999 by Natelli Communities and Classic Community Corporation, over 1,200 residents now call Lakelands home.

Debuting in the Spring of 1999, the Lakelands Leader, a 28-page tabloid size newspaper , has become the voice of Lakelands and serves as the official source for community news, comment and opinion for Lakelands residents.

The Lakelands Leader is published on the first of every month is delivered to each and every home in the community via the Lakelands paper carriers. Over 2,000 copies of the Lakelands Leader are distributed to homes with courtesy copies left in the adjacent Kentlands Square Shopping Center and Midtown Square Town Center .

The Lakelands Leader is published by the Lakelands Community Association Board of Directors, which is responsible for the form, content and polices of the newspaper.
